Running Through the Fields (2011)

Another shot that I totally forgot that I had. This was taken all the way back in 2011, and it’s my daughter and son running through a field (somewhere). The EXIF data shows the end of November, which I find hard to believe. It’s not that common for us, in November, to have the kind of weather where you’re running around without jackets on in Minnesota. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the occasion that these pictures were taken, nor do I remember where they were taken. Grr.

Clyde’s Drive-In, Sault Ste. Marie, Mi. (2010)

I totally forgot about this picture. It was taken in 2010 with my friend’s Nikon D90, which I was in love with at the time. I really wanted an upgrade to my D40 and I had a lot of fun with his camera. My mom, sister, son and I had gone to the U.P. to visit my grandmother, as she was very old and in a nursing home. It was an opportunity for Alanzo to meet his great-grandmother and it gave me a chance to see her one last time. It was good to get back to the area. I’d spent half of my life up there and I didn’t want to leave. If you find yourself in the area, … Read MoreClyde’s Drive-In, Sault Ste. Marie, Mi. (2010)

Sunsets at Many Point Scout Camp, Ponsford, MN.

Last year, Alanzo had the opportunity to go to Scout Camp for the first time and I was able to accompany him as an adult leader so I got to share the week with him. I didn’t grow up in scouts so it was a new experience for me. I was very proud of my son. I think both he, and I, grew a lot during our week up there. I brought my camera up mainly for the purpose of taking pictures of him and the other boys and documenting the week up there. The only time that I actually made for myself to photograph anything would be at night as the sun set over a couple of days. I … Read MoreSunsets at Many Point Scout Camp, Ponsford, MN.

View from the Space Needle (2014)

One of my bucket list items ever since my first trip there in 2011 and I couldn’t have asked for a better night if I’d prayed for one. On our first night in Seattle, after we’d arrived and got settled in our hotel, we took in some of the sights (of course). There were a few bucket list items that I’d wanted to photograph and visit – the market, the original Starbucks, and finally, the Space Needle. The market was all but closed on the the Sunday we’d arrived but luckily, Starbucks was open and I’m glad that we went Sunday night as the lines were insane the next morning. The Space Needle was the end of our first day … Read MoreView from the Space Needle (2014)

Minneapolis Skyline (2012)

I’d always wanted to do long-exposure shots of a big city skyline, complete with headlight & tail light streaks. I got my chance, thanks to my friends, Ryan & Casey, who knew exactly where to go. This picture, here, represents the end of a full day of photography that started out with some foggy-morning lake photos, then some shots of the Cathedral of St. Paul, and finally concluded with our skyline shots.
