Lake Maria State Park March 3, 2010 at 22:23
I had a chance to go to Lake Maria State Park today and putz around with Jacob for a few hours. It was quite fun. I went, primarily, to see the park and scope it out for camping this summer and Jacob will never object to photographic opportunities so we left about mid afternoon and stayed til sunset. I really wanted to try and get some great sunset shots but I felt that there weren’t enough clouds in the sky to add enough contrast so while the sun was setting we tried to capture the gold bouncing off the leaves and such. At one point we climbed down this steep hill and were taking pictures on the frozen ice. I spotted this weird tree/branch or whatever it was sticking out and it looked unique enough that I had to have it. I’m not sure what was underneath it, whether it was ground or frozen lake, but nevertheless I like it.
I must thank my wife for the top picture. No, she did not take it, but I’ve been looking at leaves much more closely as a result of her, though. We had gone camping last year, just the two of us, and on our day of hiking she took some close-up pictures of fallen leaves that were gorgeous. I really liked them a lot. It was the perfect time of day and she captured colors and the texture of the leaves beautifully. I liked her pictures so much that I find myself doing the same.
